HOLA!

My name is Carolina and I am a Puerto Rican/ Mexican migrant currently living and studying in New York City.

“I don’t want to fall under the same narrative of some girl who immigrated to the United States with her family in hopes of a better future, but that exact experience made me the person I am today. I come from a family of hard-working people, and as stereotypical as that may be, it has taught me to work hard for what I want. I am set on building a career for myself as an artist.”

I am a Senior at Parsons School of Design BFA Illustration and Strategic Design Minor with 7 years of freelance experience in graphic design & illustration.

I have been a part of nationally recognized, top art programs for high school students including Parsons Pre-College (2019) and Rhode Island Pre-College (2020).

In my four years of high school, I have been honored to acquire multiple awards for my artwork. The most notable being the following: 2 honorable mentions for the U.S. Congressional Competition, 5 Silver Keys, and 4 Gold Key for Scholastic Art & Writing, as well as being nationally awarded a Silver Medal for my piece, “Perpetual Delusion.” I was also honored to be awarded a grant to one of Florida’s top private universities, The University of Tampa, for that same piece.

My artwork is personal and heavily inspired by my Latino heritage. There is a heartwarming sense of underlying comfort and openness to strangers seen within my culture. This feeds into my interest in human interaction as seen in my projects “Human Connection” and “Nosotros Somos.”

Feel free to look around my projects and portfolio.

Thank you,

Carolina
